The Florida Community Association Journal held their first annual expo, “The Show” on January 8, 2014. This statewide expo was held at the Palm Beach County Convention Center as a one-of-a-kind event bringing together industry experts and board members. It provided an opportunity for board members from across Florida to get together and exchange ideas. There were also educational classes provided to board members on everything from legal updates to hot topics. Service providers were asked to supply their best practice industry tips and cost saving ideas for The SourceBook; a service guide and reference manual, which each attendant received. Those who attended included a broad range of Board Members, Managers, Service Providers of Condominium Associations, Cooperatives, HOAs, Timeshares, and Mobile Home Communities.
At the expo, the Florida Community Association Journal announced their first annual Readers’ Choice Award winners. The Readers’ Choice Awards gave communities and board members an opportunity to select their favorite service providers. There were 155 service providers nominated and 3,800 votes cast. Three levels were awarded for nominated winners: Gold as third place, Platinum as second place, and the Diamond award as first place.
There were two recognizable service providers that won the highest level of recognition with a Diamond Award. Katzman, Garfinkel & Berger received a Diamond Award for the Law Category. Campbell Property Management was recognized as a Diamond Award winner in the Property Management Category. Complete Property Maintenance also received recognition in the Landscaping Category.
